Iceland: Golden Circle
Golden Circle with snow, horses, waterfalls, and geysers.
Snowy countryside to ride Viking Horses through.
Gullfoss Waterfall
Stunning waterfall but brutally cold.
Last morning in Reykjavik. It's 9:30am, the moon is out and there's 9"-12"snow on the ground. We're off to grab one last meal before hitting the airport.

Iceland: Out and About
To give you an idea of how expensive it is to eat (and drink) here, our glacier guide was super excited that it's Mega Vika. When we asked what that was he said Mega Vika is Mega Week at Domino's Pizza. This is a big deal because the pizza is normally $24. This week, it's only $11. As I was checking the weather this morning, I saw the ad and laughed.

We spent our Thanksgiving today exploring town and spelunking in a lava tube cave. Pretty fascinating. Now we're enjoying a beer, awaiting our second attempt to spot the Northern Lights.

Iceland: Excursions
Fire and Ice.
Today has to be one of the best days of my life. We hiked up a waterfall, walked on a beach, and cramponed on a glacier. At the moment, we are hunting Northern Lights, without success so far.
We hiked the Sólheimajökull glacier, which is on the the back of a volcano.
Reynisfjara Beach.
This
is where we almost died.... Literally. Someone thought it was a good
idea to climb up on the rocks that the 15ft waves were lapping up to. 90
seconds after we got our wits back and decided to get off and back to
dry area, a huge wave crashed well over the area we were just standing. #SurvivorsInIceland

Iceland: Getting Acquainted
Reykjavik Harbour |
Hotdogs for lunch |
Icelandic Hipsters |
Gail force winds and heavy sleet may stop us from glacier hiking but it won't stop us from bathing in the Blue Lagoon. |

Canada: Toronto for the Day
We were fortunate to schedule a day-long layover in Toronto. We stored our bags at the airport and quickly made our way into the city to explore. While we only had the day, we made the most of it. Good food (actually some of the best dumplings I've ever had), fun brewery, Christmas market, and more. By the time we got back to the airport, we were toast but ready to sleep on the way to Iceland.
