Iceland: Excursions

 Fire and Ice. 

 Today has to be one of the best days of my life. We hiked up a waterfall, walked on a beach, and cramponed on a glacier. At the moment, we are hunting Northern Lights, without success so far.

We hiked the Sólheimajökull glacier, which is on the the back of a volcano.

 

 

 

Reynisfjara Beach. 
This is where we almost died.... Literally. Someone thought it was a good idea to climb up on the rocks that the 15ft waves were lapping up to. 90 seconds after we got our wits back and decided to get off and back to dry area, a huge wave crashed well over the area we were just standing. #SurvivorsInIceland

Iceland: Getting Acquainted

We landed bright and early in Iceland and made our way to our AirBnb. We are super excited that the city is walkable. But first, a nap was needed. It turns out that we took the wrong room so we were awakened to change rooms. After that, lunch was needed...an expensive lunch at that. Hotdogs and chips for like $15!!

Gail force winds and heavy sleet may stop us from glacier hiking but it won't stop us from bathing in the Blue Lagoon.

 

  

 

Canada: Toronto for the Day

We were fortunate to schedule a day-long layover in Toronto. We stored our bags at the airport and quickly made our way into the city to explore. While we only had the day, we made the most of it. Good food (actually some of the best dumplings I've ever had), fun brewery, Christmas market, and more. By the time we got back to the airport, we were toast but ready to sleep on the way to Iceland.
